Osprey subspecies? (1 Viewer)

I saw this lovely pair in the Everglades National Park. The bird to the left seems an obvious "American Osprey", carolinensis. The bird on the right seems quite pale, however. Is it a possible ridgwayi?

Both are carolinensis, we've had ridgwayi in South Florida this year, but only in the Miami area: ML611646780 - Osprey (ridgwayi) - Macaulay Library

The bird on the photo is paler (more brownish than black) but still has a prominent eye stripe that connects to the dark back.

If you want to see the other accepted ridgwayi in Florida, there's reports of an individual in Lake Apopka.
