Paul's 2023 Photographic World List (1 Viewer)

Trip list is now through 200 with over 100 photo year ticks and 31 lifers. The next three days will see us concentrate on Algonquin with a few potentials.i am now two from three Owl targets and two from three Grouae. I don't agree with the great North American philosopher about two out of three so here is hoping...

Ruffed Grouse, Sharp-tailed Grouae, Clay-coloured Sparrow, Indigo Bunting, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Cedar Waxwing, Coyote & Moose back of camera pics attached for now.

All the best

Paul

Hello.
I recently found that one of the best WP hotspots for rarities is located in my country (Portugal), the Corvo island. I was reading about it, and it looks like that in October lots of WP listers go there to find vagrant american birds.
So i got curious to know if you ever plan to go there sometime...

Maybe. There is the potential to add up to say 5 or 6 ticks in an exceptional trip for me one October. It is a few years since I looked at the statistics and patterns. But I have been lucky to see many North American vagrants over the last 35 years in Britain and Ireland. 👍

Shortly arriving at Toronto Airport to head home. If all goes smoothly, I may start editing my pics on Monday. Away again next Sunday for a short trip. Not sure if that is enough of a window...

Over 30 ticks, over 120 photo year ticks & over 200 species recorded in a fortnight. A quick back of a camera Spruce Grouse or two for now.

All the best

Paul

That grouse is a real beaut!

Love the Prothonotary Warbler Paul (both the bird and its name!)

As expected, no real chance to get through the Ontario & Michigan pics before my next trip away which starts tomorrow - especially as I wanted to fit in a night's moth-trapping. So accurate numbers and photos at some point later this month when I am playing catch up. But a few pics from tonight's editing from Michigan - Barred Owl; Evening Grosbeak; Henslow's Sparrow; Kirtland's Warbler; Pine Warbler; Porcupine; & Sharp-tailed Grouse.

All the best

Completed my five targets for the trip with Pharaoh Eagle Owl tonight after multiple failures in four countries!! (I am left with one remaining Moroccan target for next year as well as some future Western Sahara, Mauretania & Algerian targets hopefully.)

Chalking up a few photo year ticks as I went with the likes of House Bunting, Lanner, Trumpeter Finch & various wheatears - Black, White-crowned Black, Mourning & Desert. An hour or so final birding in the morning before heading to the airport.

So a bit of work to do when I get home not only from Ontario & Michigan but also this trip now!

All the best

Congratulations on the Pharaoh eagle Owl Paul!

Continuing the difficult days, today was a travel day but still managed a few bits against such hardships with Thick-billed & Temminck's Larks, Red-rumped Wheatear, Blue-cheeked Bee-eater and Rufous Bushchat being highlights.

A few commitments including a short trip away but will try & make some progress on editing pics and my numbers. 😀

All the best

Provisionally, I sit at a photo yearlist of just over 900 species from a yearlist of 969 species. Off to Majorca tonorrow for a couple of days & I will then crack on properly with my photos on my return. Some editing from today of proper pics rather than Back of Camera included Atlas, Desert & Red-rumped Wheatears, Rufous Bushchat, Moussier's Redstart and Thick-billed & Temminck's Larks.

All the best

A very swift trip has few possibilities but Balearic Warbler is a tick & (Balearic) Common Crossbill is a photo year tick.

Currently raining hard but maybe one or two more additions are possible before heading back.

All the best
