Our sixth and final day with Phil Maher was 23rd November 2023. We started at Ouyen and headed back to Deniliquin before setting out towards Melbourne and Tasmania. It was our 12th day in Australia and we had six further days ahead before two of us carried on to New Zealand & further adventures.

The day ended with an unfortunate mix up with us loading our rental car with one of Phil Maher's bags (including his thermal equipment) resulting in an about turn about an hour into our ongoing journey and thankfully, reuniting the bag with Phil's wife without too much fuss... I like to think that Phil was recovering from the weekend rather than making voodoo dolls of us to inflict some deserved revenge for our error. (In respect of who was responsible from our party, in the words of Shaggy, it wasn't me.... It was the second occasion in the year when one of our party had made this error. On the previous occasion on our Ontario and Michigan trip, we had crossed the border between Canada and the United States before discovering the error but we were able to keep our friend's bag heading back to Somerset & reuniting them there....... )

The delay meant that our time on arrival in Bendigo was delayed and limited to checking out Bells Swamp but dipping Australian Painted Snipe in the evening. At least we had checked out the site for the morning....
