Plover (Little Ringed or Long Billed) - Kyoto, Japan (1 Viewer)

1. This two are of the same bird. Felt good about little ringed plover until I saw the second photo on the Merlin app for the long-billed plover (taken from Kyoto) which looks alarmingly similar. 2. Photos of a second bird, further along the stream. Frozen for several minutes (couldn't get a different profile photo), seemed to be quite concerned about us and those of the other side (both fairly far away) 20230416163424_IMG_1498.JPG20230416163507_IMG_1499.JPG

It's a Long-billed Plover. Note dusky (not black) lorals and ear coverts, reduced yellow eyering and dark tip to tail and structurally, long bill, long tibia and more attenuated rear end.
