Hello, I'm not very tech-y or a bird watcher, so I hope I'm doing this right. I was hoping that someone here might be able to help me explain a bird situation 
I've always loved animals (I'm a major cat lady) but I've never had the chance to know birds well.
I have a deck off of my kitchen and there is a bright red cardinal who started coming around at the beginning of summer. He tweets continuously and hops along the railing while looking at us in the house. He can see us, knows we are here and I am always so happy to see him! He comes quite close. There's no real reason (survival wise) for him to do this, is he just curious/being social?
So my 6 year old son decided to name him Scarlett Feather. We did see him hanging out with and tweeting with a lady cardinal.
I wondered if he might be hungry so I looked up what to feed wild cardinals and had some fresh blueberries which I cut up and put out for him. He ate some, bit then the next day (and for maybe a couple of weeks) after that we didn't see him.
He's just come back yesterday and is hopping around on the railing again, tweeting the whole time. He's so lovely and the way he looks at me through the sliding door, it feels like he's trying to talk to us (haha).
Can any folks here with bird knowledge explain this behaviour for me please?
