Raptors - Lima, Peru (1 Viewer)

BirdsPeru

Alejandro Tabini
I took this pictures today on my trip through central highway to Milloc and Santa Eulalia, all over 3000 meters above sea level.

Raptor1 look like some phase of Buteo polyosoma but the bill color makes me doubt about the ID.

Raptor2 not sure, the lack of a terminal black band does not look like any of the ones I have on my books.

Amazing pictures, Alejandro!
I think 1st could well be rufous morph Red-backed Hawk (Buteo polyosoma). 2nd, maybe Swainson's Hawk (Buteo swainsoni)?

In juvenile plumage, buteo's often lack (always lack a sharpcut) black (sub)terminal band.
Great pix!
