Rare and Scarce Birds in Warwickshire (3 Viewers)

Is there anywhere to go for Warwickshire bird news anymore? Any news feeds, emails groups or blogs that are still active? Any mysterious telephone trees?
I get a bit of news here or there from various websites and blogs but it seems to be that any news of birds in warkwickshire it hard to get these days. Or is it that there are just no bird!?
Cheers
Gareth

Hi Gareth there is still news on my Draycote and Jeffs Brandon sites. Most of the Warwickshire birders do not go birding in Warwickshire, just wish we had more like the Staffs lot.

7 Whooper Swan, Firecrest and Slavonian Grebe in the Warks Tame Valley today.

It's amazing how many Warks birders turn up when something is found ;-)

Hi Gareth,
Unfortunately Warks news has to be gleaned from here, there and everywhere nowadays. There is a monthly summary of sightings in Birdwatching magazine, but the county blog and Yahoo group have gone silent. I think we need Steve Seal back in the county to get things going again!

Matt

P.S. I now have a Twitter site for daily Earlswood news at twitter.com/earlswoodbirds

The Warwickshire County Blog has been silent since April 2012. I find this hard to understand as at least ten people have access to submit sightings ( Myself; Nick Trotman; John Judge; Jeff; Kay; Adam Archer; Matt Griffiths; Dave Hutton; and Bob Hazell). Unfortunately, the "grapevine" has gone quiet and any entries I made were from RBA or various blogs. Time restraints and changes in circumstances all play a part on input. Maybe we should give it another go? Or maybe, we should scrap it? Thoughts would be appreciated. I will give it another go but need support.

OK - just started posting again! My info is from RBA. If you have posting rights please do so. If you would like to have posting rights and can do so on a regular basis, please get in touch.

Many thanks, Hippo, I often used to take a look, though rarely had anything to contribute! I certainly will if anything decides to turn up this way, - not holding my breath!

Nice one Kevin :t:. I'll pass on anything notable at Earlswood, but don't think I have full posting rights as I can't add sightings to posts already on there.

Hope it encourages more Warks birders to go birding in the county.;)

Draycote

Black-throated Diver seen in Toft Bay before flying off east c9am per Bob Hazell (the last one to stay was in 2007) Also Black-necked Grebe off Hensborough Bank.

Of note no sign of the adult Bonaparte's Gull at Boddington (Northants) this evening. Tim had a look at Draycote tonight but no sign, although very difficult with the small gulls on your own. Might be worth the roost tomorrow.

Regards

John
