RE: wireless device for instant messaging

Please suggest a wireless device for instant messaging. We have tried the web based edition of the Akeni Enterprise IM but it requires a wireless device with IE. 5 or better. A friend of mine has suggested to use Blackberry device that has jabber or xmpp.

Any other suggestion will be appreciated.

Best to go with a smartphone, either treo or a window mobile powered phone.

I use a pocket pc phone which I keep connected on GPRS. I have a freeware program on that called agile messenger, which means I can be connected to yahoo, icq and google talk all at the same time. When I can get a wi-fi connection I use that instead of GPRS, which means I can use pocket skype too.

The blackberry option is also good, just depends on how much you want to pay for your device and ongoing costs, or which instan messaging protocols you want to use.
