Hey guys! Im brand new to the forum and to the world of bird watching :) Im currently on vacation in the Bahamas and I saw this bird and thought it was absolutely gorgeous! I tried to identify it by searching the internet for various pictures of hawks and eagles. The closest fit I could find was a red-tailed hawk or a juvenile bald eagle.
I was hoping some of you could give me your input? Im an absolut novice when it comes to birds
I hope you guys have a great 2022 and stay safe! Greetings from a German in the Bahamas

Red-tailed hawk. Note: dark leading edge to inner part of forewing; short streaks across belly. Immature bald eagle is fairly irregularly blotchy dark/white all across the underside - nothing much like this.

Yes, a great aerial image of this Red-tailed Hawk Deabolis!

Beautiful

As a new birder, you may not know the Merlin app. It has various functions, some of this works better than others. The automated identification of birds has some weaknesses and is not always correct, but using the explore option to check other possibilities help a lot.
