Red-tailed Hawk? (Ottawa, ON) (1 Viewer)

Saw it perched by side of busy road this morning while driving - low quality pics were best I could do with cell phone. Big bird, medium-dark brown with white on breast. I only saw it perched but it looked like it had a patch of red near base of tail when viewed from the back. I've seen a red-tailed hawk in this area before, so that's my best guess.

Can anyone ID it?

Hard to tell from that distance.

Red-tailed seems like a good bet. It's not unusual to see them on top of highway poles watching the grassy strips for prey.

Likely. Underparts pattern is right.
