Redpoll species, Warwickshire, UK (1 Viewer)

Matt Griffiths

ad. ♂ Blackcap
Hi all,

I received the following photos taken earlier this month (on 14th) of a pale redpoll, and wonder if it could be a Mealy. I think it looks good for one but am cautious about the ID given that there are many faded Lessers around at this time of year, and none of the shots fully show the rump. What do people think?

Photos have been sharpened a little and cropped by the observer, but otherwise there has been no colour adjustment.

Kind regards,
Matt

We had Mealies on the deck at Brandon so had an easy comparison,The cold tones suggest mealy, but no other species for comparison, so not 100%..
