Just had an intriguing report from one of the farmers. He was topping one of the fields at the bottom of Salters Lane yesterday and saw a small gamebird running across in front of the tractor. The only way he could describe it was looking a bit like a Quail, quite bronzey brown on the back. Too small for Pheasant at this time of year, I’d have said. Passage Quail? Escaped / released domestic-type Quail? Something more exciting? per Matt Hadlington
