Short Eared Owl 2000 - 2018

We had a bird in January/February 2003 the following year we had birds in January, May, June, August and September. Then it went very quiet for Short Eared Owl in the Valley with a couple of reported birds. Till 10th October 2015 when a bird flew over Forge Mill Farm then Pete's bird today possibly seen yesterday in same area.

Goosander count did not go well due to a large number of birds (10+) coming in through huge amount (500or so) Jackdaw causing me to loose count. At the time I was on 47 birds and at least 2 more came in later. It has to be a new October record but I would only claim a nominal 58 but it could have been mid 60s. Per Wali Taylor
