Mostly quiet lately, a nice Burnished Brass the pick. Couple of Rush Veneers along the Dee Estuary foreshore by Ffynongroyw on Friday.

Trapped on Friday night, but it was quite cold, 6.3c, so only 2 moths, a Large Yellow Underwing and an Angle Shades. On Saturday at an event at Insh Marshes there was a trap from the night before and I saw my first ever Red-line Quaker along with Red-green Carpet, Pink-barred Sallow and Green-brindled Crescent, firsts for me for the year.

We also did a local trapping on Friday night-clear skies & the coldest for several months. About a dozen moths,; largely Square-spot Rustics but also Brimstone Moth, Chestnut, Orange Swift & Flounced Rustic.

My mate a couple of miles away had what is effectively the first definite county record of Cloaked Carpet this week but I have had a poor month so far. This morning's catch was just 32 of 11, including my first Lunar Underwing of the year and my latest ever Horse Chestnut leaf Miner.

Not done any moth trapping this year or for ages, but 2 Rusty Dot Pearl in the kitchen today was fun, with a probable 3rd in the living room somewhere at the moment - bit odd as we haven't had any windows open at night.

A complete lifer for me today, Brindled Green - something I should have had years ago.
Also my earliest ever Beaded Chestnut by nine days, and my latest ever Carcina quercana, also by nine days.
7 Angle Shades was my largest ever catch, beating my previous 4.
So all in all an interesting haul, despite just 60 moths of 16 species.

Finally managed to catch and release the third one yesterday. Thinking about it, we did have the back door open for ten minutes or so while we unloaded the car at 11pm on the night in question.
