Shocking raptor persecution (6 Viewers)

Now if only that were true.....;)

I see what you mean!

Should have said, "the protection for birds of prey in the far north of Scotland is virtually non existant."

Hope that makes sense now? However the statement is true, protection for birds of prey in the far north of Scotland is virtually non existent !!!

Time to Cut out the Cr*p

There are articles appearing in the national press on an almost daily basis spouting this kind of rubbish. I find it absolutely incredible that papers like The Independent and The Guardian actually print this stuff. A few weeks back we had the alarmist rubbish of how a White Tailed Sea Eagle intoduction in Suffolk would decimate farming! These papers are publishing absolute drivel and serving it to a huge circulation in the name of free press and reasonable argument. I am not particularly in favour of a re-introduction of Sea Eagles to Suffolk, but mainly because I think efforts would be best served elsewhere.
Songbird Survival (or Pigeon Fanciers UK) are behind nearly all this dross, and it needs to be stamped out pronto. If you read the article online mentioned by John B above, you will find 3 comments supposedly from the general public all of them concerned at the way in which the RSPB and its members have lost interest in songbirds and how they are obsessed with Birds of Prey. There is no balance here whatsoever. 3 morons (probably related) publish their comments and it appears there is a national outcry from the general public against the RSPB and birds of prey. I am primarily a birder, but I have never met an educated member of the general public who doesn't understand that raptors have an important role to play in the general balance of nature.
It's time to stand up and take sides. We have a new Government, who I am sure are too close for comfort to the grouse shooting Hooray Henry's responsible for the tragic poisonings on the Skibo Estate. Let your MP know that it is no longer acceptable for these idiots to act in this manner. AND let the press know that to continue printing these lies is ill-informed, unbalanced, gutter journalism.

What irks me particularly is that it's harder for us in the UK to criticise the Maltese Government for looking studiously the other way while protected species are slaughtered en-masse when our own Government (and I expect no better from the new one) shrugs its shoulders over protected raptor persecution in its own backyard.
