Need ID help on this sparrow call. Bird net is suggesting Golden-crowned Sparrow, which would be rare but not completely absurd here. Any thoughts please?

It would be rather absurd for it to be a Golden-crowned Sparrow. You would need much more compelling evidence than this seep call for something as rare as Golden-crowned in Illinois. They have only been recorded in eBird 2 or 3 times in the past 20 years. As far as I can tell by both sound and by sonogram it is equally similar to the seep calls of a Song Sparrow.

Did you put the location into BirdNET? Merlin often returns absurd ID's without location. I see no evidence to say it's not a Song Sparrow.

Yes, with location, and neither Merlin nor Birdnet suggested Song Sparrow. Weird.
