Speyside B&Bs with visiting pine martens? (1 Viewer)

Anyone know any? I'm going in a few days and would be nice to stay at one. I had this privilege once on the Ardnamurchan though sadly the B&B has since shut.

Don't know any on Speyside. We used to stay at a s/c cottage at the bottom of Benn Eighe on the road to Kinlochewe, with a visiting pine martin.

Otherwise, Speyside Wildlife have a hide and accept bookings from visitors to the area. Pine martens are regulars, but I don't suppose they're guaranteed (as per Springwatch). Don't know what the fee is.

Hi James,

There is a B&B regularly advertised in Birding World that offers "almost guaranteed" Pine Martens; though it's not in Speyside unfortunately ! It is at Lochcarron ( Tel 01520 722377 ) I haven't tried it yet, though hope to next Spring, so would be interested if you do get there....
With regard to the hide at Speyside Wildlife, we tried it last year for £ 18 for the evening ! Total failure on the Pine Marten front though a bunch of Badgers and Wood Mice did their best to entertain us - more worryingly I know of at least 5 other nights during last Spring/Summer when other friends failed as well, so unless things have changed for the better, or you've got deeper pockets than me, it might pay to locate them at a B & B !!

All the best,

Steve.

Steve,

long time, anyway the Speyside hide seems to be more reliable in Spring probably due to the lack of food elsewhere we are 100% there!

thanks to all who posted. Have been without internet for a few days and didn't actually make it to Speyside mainly due to the weather:-C. However i will be back (and the hide seems the best bet...)
