Stabiliser for cameras...or ED50? (1 Viewer)

It's an old trick. I've used it with a camera; it works.

I guess it kind of works for a scope too, in an emergency situation. But I wouldn't leave my tripod at home anyway. It's a great comfort to have, plus most people need the exercise of carrying it around! ;)

Indeed, an old trick. It does help, though no substitute for a tripod. Pretty difficult to "hand" the view off to someone else, if desired. Another issue for me is that a tripod is self-standing, freeing both hands to use one's bins. With this set-up, you'll constantly be looking for a place to set the scope down I suspect. That, or maybe attach a hook of some sort that will allow the scope to hang from your belt or pant's waist.

Many thanks, folks, I´ll give it a try. I´m deep in obsession about my ED50, have a light tripod which is fine but recently got a grippa-case and find 27x ep just a tad too high in mag for this. I don´t like 20x mag, so I´d love to find a really easy-carry solution to use ED50 without a tripod. But I don´t think there is one. (I´ve also tried monopod and shoulder-pod). Think I´ll just have to accept the fact that 27x needs the tripod.

My friend Sancho, I have tried both DS27x and 13-40x zoom eyepiece on my ED50 hand hold and I like the zoom eyepiece than the DS27x :king: The zoom eyepiece is my default ep for my ED50.
