These images were not taken by me but were posted on a local facebook page. Orange on the face not red and streaking on the back and flanks. Escaped cage bird perhaps?

I agree with you, looks like an escaped Goldfinch x ? hybrid. If I write, it looks good for a Goldfinch x Canary hybrid (please compare Goldfinch by Chris Martin), than it should be read as: Jörn and others, please jump in! Thanks!
