Swallows - Corpus Christi, Tx. (1 Viewer)

At a nearby patch, I encountered a large group of swallows perched on the power lines right near the parking area. My first inclination was Purple Martins, but only calls I was hearing sounded more like short fuss calls that I was not familiar with. Also, didn't see any solid black/purple male adults. So is this just a large group of youngsters or?

Thx for your feedback.

I'm not much good at swallows, but I think you've got mostly northern rough-winged (dirty brownish throats and breasts) with some bank swallows (clean white throat over darker breast band) mixed in --- all adults.

I think you are correct with Purple Martin.
Note: large bill .And streaking to belly. Plus overall feel.

Must be all female or immature?

I agree with Purple Martin. In addition to the features noted by Indobirder, the tails are too deeply forked for Northern Rough-winged Swallow and the breasts do not have the distinct dark band of Bank Swallow.
