I really struggled with Swifts on the Canaries at the end of last month. I did record a few Pallid Swifts but never got photos of them.... I mainly saw good numbers of Plain Swifts with browner, scalier & dumpier recently fledged juveniles confusing the issue. However, this bird with missing/moulting inner primaries/secondaries (?) properly confused me. Sadly it is silhouetted but appears quite black with a diffuse pale throat.

The throat only looks minimally pale, and they're quite dark overall, so presumably they're all plain swifts.

I am entirely happy with all in post 2 as Plain Swift. It is only the structure of the bird in post 1 that is of interest. I presume Plain Swift for that one too.
