Hi,

Thought I'd post a thread for this underwatched East Yorkshire site that received recent publicity with the much-enjoyed Lesser Yellowlegs. It's on my route to work so I call in most mornings and some evenings for a 5 minute scan.

8th May 5.30pm - 6 Whimbrel, 1 Greenshank, Yellow Wagtail
9th May 7.50am - 1 Ruff

Cheers,
Gareth

That's a great local patch you have. I think it looks good for a Temmincks in the next couple of day.

Gareth,

Can you walk around the marsh at Figham just south of Swine Moor? I've watched Barn Owl and Snipe there looking across the river from the Weel side, and wanted to explore that side. Where would you park and how can/would you access it?

Thanks,
Graham

I've not been onto Figham. (It had Garganey last year) But looking on the map, it looks like there is a footpath across it:

I would possibly park on the Beckside in Beverley (off Flemingate) and walk along the southern side of the Beck. The road goes as far as a lock adjoining the river and from here it looks like there are two paths you could follow around Figham. I might try it myself and see how it goes.

It's Temmincks I've been hoping for on my last couple of visits. Plenty of water still there so there is every chance. Temmincks have turned up there in the past (and at the nearby High Eske reserve).

Hi,
Go along the southside of the beck and drive right up to the lock you can park there then nip over the fence along side of the Barmston Drain and you are in Figham. The access to the Southside is via Waterside Way down the side of the Somerfields Super Market.
Stan.

Overdosing on Wood Sands this spring! I had four yesterday (Sunday) while someone else has had up to five. A Greenshank is still kicking around too.

Very quiet on the moor at the moment. A few Shelduck around and an LRP but the last few days haven't yielded anything especially exciting and certainly not the hoped for Temmincks. Still plenty of muddy pools left though so there is time!

im really pleased our area is still of interest to others. I myself live in Beverley and not being able to get out and about much lately . Luckily the garden is keeping me occupied at the mo .
cheers to all

I live in Tickton and the site is on my way to work so I usually try to call in en route and have a quick scan.

No sign of any good wagtails so far this week. Been hoping for a Grey-headed with all that's been going on at the coast...
