Just back from the Moors, where the hide was full with many of the old crew, good banter and I stayed until well after dark.
Ducks were much as recent times, with a noticeable increase in Shoveler. Some snipe were now feeding below the hide on the bank and 1 of the Jacks was showing well on the 'pool island'.
Prior to dark the waterfowl all moved to the southern end of the pool. It was also good to see plenty of birds feeding in and off the SW marsh. The cleared SW islands were now attracting roosting ducks and the odd lapwing.
Having only seen a few snipe during daylight , it was good to see so man fly out at dark Two jacks flew slowly around the scrape, looking more like bats until they landed on the pool island. T%he seasonal pool was alive with mallard and unusually the were feeding there at dark, the shovelers continued 'whirlpooling' at dark which is very unusual at the Moors.
