I have been busy raiding the forum for photographs to include in the 2012 Annual Report; obviously there is a fantastic range of stonking images from a large number of togs / birders. If you dont wish your images to be used please let me know. All income from the sale of the reports is ploughed straight back into the reserve and all photographs used are fully credited.

I wouldn't say you'd want to use any of mine Phil but hopefully my Bittern shot awaits..............

Just flicking through my photos and, though its a blurred image, is this an Osprey? Because this was taken on the 12th July and I am to sure if we had one then. Any help would be gratefully received.

Chris

Pics from todays trip to the Moors.

Despite the overcast start there was a good showing from the Jack Snipe this morning from the East Hide.

Cetti's Warbler seen by the Secret Garden (but not able to get any shots of it).

Just back from the Moors, where the hide was full with many of the old crew, good banter and I stayed until well after dark.
Ducks were much as recent times, with a noticeable increase in Shoveler. Some snipe were now feeding below the hide on the bank and 1 of the Jacks was showing well on the 'pool island'.
Prior to dark the waterfowl all moved to the southern end of the pool. It was also good to see plenty of birds feeding in and off the SW marsh. The cleared SW islands were now attracting roosting ducks and the odd lapwing.
Having only seen a few snipe during daylight , it was good to see so man fly out at dark Two jacks flew slowly around the scrape, looking more like bats until they landed on the pool island. T%he seasonal pool was alive with mallard and unusually the were feeding there at dark, the shovelers continued 'whirlpooling' at dark which is very unusual at the Moors.
Species count: GCG 7, Litle grebe 3, cormorant 15, shoveler 76, Teal 50, mallard 100+, Pintail male imm, gadwall fem, wigeon 6, Tufted 20, pochard 4, Snipe 40 min, jack snipe 3, curlew 15, lapwing 180 - 200, Herring Gull 3 1st w, Sparrowhawk 2, kestrel, kingfisher, redpoll,
Craig had the cettis at the causeway late on and Bob O had 10 wigeon.

Long-tailed Duck today at Bittell; would be a nice addition to the year list if it relocated to UW. Have the trees at Webbs been checked for incoming Waxwings?

Evening at the Moors.

Just back from a pleasurable roost at the Moors with good company. No bird pics but some to give the flavour of the evening. Also one for JB to do his lapwing count.:t:

I have only been coming to the reserve for the last 7 months, and work makes it difficult for me to get therem much.....pic 2 evokes the atmosphere of the place so well. I can`t wait for next week when I have a few opportunities lined up to spend some time at Upton.
