John runs a light-hearted competition which predicts the next new species to be recorded on the reserve. For a £1 stake participants take one guess; the winner takes the total stake money (usually donated back to the reserve). Once a new species is added the competition starts all over again. Glossy Ibis is the first new bird to be added to Upton's list in nearly 5 years.

over the years we often talk about what new bird for the reserve would turn up next. This latest list has been going on for about 4 years.
As you can see it was won today. We each put a £1 in the kitty and the winner takes all.B John hope that explains it:t:
