For the first time this year the linnet/chaffinch flock (tending more towards chaffinches now, I thought) settled in the trees for me along the track to the Jacobs Hide. So, two or three bramblings were easy to spot - much more so than having them dancing away at the other side of the field. They were also apparent when I came out of the hide and then - just to completely take the mickey - one checked out the feeders in front of the Water Rail Hide. I suspect their natural food is running out and they'll not be long before migrating away.

To compensate of course, our spring birds are drifting in - avocets, oystercatchers, shelducks, great crested grebes - and even the Cettit's are beginning to show.

large quantities for birds, can't be a coincidence with all superb work being done by the volunteers. Not a lot to this tog thing, I think the birds enjoy posing

No mention on Twittero_Oor Upton Bird News:oops: of TWO Red Kites seen yestersay (3 March 1011) over reserve!
Nor on here until now (or eBird or Birdtrack or Facebook). With around 15 sightings a year its no longer the rarity it was but multiple occurrences are still noteworthy.

Could anyone tell me the new closing time? I used to start spending an hour or so at the Flashes after work this time of year, but am not sure if I can at the moment? Can always go to the Moors :)

I've just been looking at the list of moths recorded at Upton Warren and realised that doesn't include Adela reaumurella (Green Long-horn) which I recorded on 10 May 2014 and 21 April 2019 (x3) at the Moors (photos available). There doesn't appear to be a contact for additional sightings so I'm posting here in the hope somebody can forward the information to the right person!

Will forward on to John Sirrett, Des Jennings and Gert Corfield 👍

Observational moan......even the quietest session in the concrete hide would be like the Brum german market compared to the Feckenham hide at the moment....lol
