Ian B , Hi. Good to meet you again on Sunday. Yes I did remember the long chat we had a while back. Sorry it takes a while to put new names to new faces. Too much going on in my head , not too little.
Have just sent you a P.M. just in case you are not notified by other means.

Apologies to non members who may still view this site it is unlikely that I will post on here for the foreseeable future at least. I did put on something this Monday and then removed it all - a fit of pique or despair or even both for UW related reasons I won't go into at the moment. It didn't seem worth the bother . Sorry.

In terms of access info I haven't given up. We will get there if only to annoy those who say it can't be done!

In searching for some info. about the area, my erstwhile and very annoying search engine gives me everything it thinks I want and nothing that I asked for, except when I ask seemingly obtuse questions and and then it feels obliged to answer properly!
Today its perverseness brought up a twitter account and along side it a tweet from it. Now curiously I cannot repeat that page when I ask the same question again. Perverse it is.

Those who may be ordinary visitors to this site or those who do not want to use twitter, indeed even do not know who to follow - you might want to read the following I took from the search page-

1658610363828.jpeg

I did checkout #uptonwarren and it was there ;@WorcsWT seemingly had nothing that I could find. The new Upton Warren news site apparently had nothing and certainly the WWT Upton Warren web page talked only of general disturbances on a Tuesday morning. Ministry of Disinformation rules and in one instance a case of pots and kettles!!

What does strike me as odd is that there is apparently an embargo on doing work during the breeding season which according to Nat Eng doesn't end until the beginning of September. But then what do I understand?!

A few shots from today.

re tomorrow - no disinformation - Ragwort is being pulled in readiness for the grazier to return - only on Amy’s Marsh. The Trust have to do this in accordance with the grazing agreement. I don’t announce this on the blog until the day before - any earlier and people forget it’s happening - assuming they read the blog.
Cheers
Actually I had a very nice email from "The Trust " which explained everything. I'm happy.
Only the birders read your blog and obviously they have short memories!!
6.55 p.m on here the night before is a bit late.

It was not my intention to draw Gert in particular into the information issue surrounding UW.

I would however make these observations:-
When Gert's site was set up Phil Andrews did promote it on here, now some pages back.
The WWT put a link at the top of the Sir Christopher Cadbury Reserve page.
Subsequently I noted that link had been taken down.
On checking Gert's site I understood that no further daily listings were being put on after a certain date. No reason given. Recommended that people check out various people's twitter accounts etc for up to date info.
Subsequently I visited the site recently for some statistics only to find that daily sightings were being put on again.
No publicity given to that. I make the comment that a regular who knows Gert or knows of his site told me last Sunday that he didn't think that it was being kept up to date any longer.. I said I thought it was.

I have bookmarked the site but I also note that it never comes up in any search I do for info re UW generally.
It may of course be me, my search engine or the way I have my computer set up.
I make only the observations - there are no implied criticisms.

Well, if I type in 'Upton Warren' on my phone the blog appears sixth on the list presented, see screen-shot. Not sure how you're searching Phil?

With respect Lucky You.
I've just taken your advice and used my phone- 1st two are for Aztec followed by Upton Warren village , then the Sir Christopher Cadbury site followed by two more of Aztec.

I did type in "Upton Warren Birds' and then it came as the the third 0n the list. It won't do that on my computer search engine.

However in doing that I note that there are problems. Noted for July 26th - due to memory limitations and other things "sighting reports will have to be suspended and sighting news can be reached via other channels previously listed."
So
it all depends on your search engine , whether you use the phone or the computer etc etc. Then will it just be Gert that has to subscribe or will we have to do so as well?

Regards
Phil E

Gert's site comes up as first hit for me when I type 'Upton Warren Bird Sightings' into Google on my phone. All anyone needs to do then is bookmark the site for future re-navigation. Couldn't be simpler. I agree with Phil that Gert doing this is in his own free time and is provided FOC. Therefore, nobody should grumble if, for whatever reason, the info contained therein is not maintained as frequently as one might expect for a charging service. Unfortunately, there appear to be 2 types of people in this world - those that actually do stuff and work on their own initiative (self-starters I call them) and those that contribute very little and expect to be spoon-fed all the time.

Perhaps it does depend on your search engine, I have no idea, it's not something I've ever had an issue with. But then, I've always used Google or Google Chrome. However, as Woodchat says, once you've found it, save it as a favourite

Anyone who runs a blog in their own free (and at their own cost) time deserves total respect and support. End of.
Keep out of it mate! I wasn't really having a go at having a go at Gert. Apologies to gert Just simply trying to say that I found it difficult to find it iq general searches and I am concerned for the ordinary person ie the general public who may or may not suffer the same problems.
Yes I have saved it as a favourite! Duh!
I use Google and as most will know it does depend on your search patterns what Google will put at the top of the list for you.

Woodchat some of us actually are doing our bit and getting on with it quietly; Some of us haven't given up on UW.
I haven't got any friends to lose so think before you comment!
Put another way and I quote "I don't want to get involved- I get too worked up. If the birds go I'm going too elsewhere!" He will probably never speak to me again. No names no pack drill.

Absolutely no idea what you're on about. I have no idea who you are even but to be honest I find most of your posts on here frankly unintelligible - but that's not my issue. A more worrying recent trait is they appear to be increasingly passive-aggressive and critical in their tone.

What's more, who are you to say keep out of it? Keep out of what, exactly?

This is a public forum and I and others have as much right to use the forum, within the bounds of the rules, as you do.

Woodchat "Absolutely no idea what you are on about"
That "my friend" is patently obvious! Yes you do know who I am as I do you. Unintelligible Really!
Anyway I thought "the birders" didn't read this site !
To any moderators I apologise in advance for my attitude.
Time to leave the goldfish in the bowl.
To those of you who also find my posts both unintelligible and unfriendly have no fear I have better things to do with my time

Thanks Woodchat and Wheatearip I'll carry on working in the background.
No need to put in a a response,I've already taken this off my bookmark section.

And mean while... back to the birds 🙂. Over the last few days.
Dunnock juvenile, Greenfinch M&F, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Water Rail, Little Egret, Reed Bunting, Blackcap Fem.
