Upton Warren (120 Viewers)

Merry Christmas and unless I add anything else by year end it’s 125 species for me this year. Not sure what the year total overall is at present. Biggest surprise for me is the now resident Great White Egret. I can recall the excitement when they first turned up 20 odd years ago but I guess the same can be said about Little Egret and Avocet!

From Mike W on Bluesky:

A murky few hours at the Moors Pool #uptonwarren. G.W.Egret still present, a random adult M.Swan sparked a brief episode of Swan Wars. Other than that, fairly quiet - c.40 Linnet, c.30 Chaffinch & c.20 Reed Bunting along the west track. One picture taken from East Hide.

I understand the year list closed on 140 species, a little below par (Grimley finished on 147).

One new addition to the reserve list with two (unringed) Common Cranes in flight over the reserve (subject to acceptance by the County Recorder).
