Hi all, saw this bird in Bergen County, NJ, USA today. It may be a young, fresh Warbling Vireo which would be a common bird here now. All About Birds states that the distinguishing mark of a Philadelphia and a Warbling is the line through the eye of the Philadelphia goes all the way thorough the eye to the bill as this one appears to do. What do you think? Thanks,
Jim

Looks good for Philadelphia Vireo. The dark lores is pretty variable and not a diagnostic field mark by itself. However, notice also the distribution of the yellow on the underparts. Philidelphia is brightest on the throat and breast, while Warbling is brightest on the flanks and belly. Shape can also be a good characteristic, but that takes quite a bit of experience to be useful.
