Walrus in Ireland (1 Viewer)

My understanding is that walruses tend to eat smaller food items and ingest them whilst underwater. Rather than catching larger items and eating them on the surface. But then this individual is rather lost!
When i was watching,it would dive and stay under for two to three minutes. No sign of it eating on the surface,It stayed within a very small area all the time i was there.Presumably feeding each dive.Seemed very contented.A crowd of about 70,mainly holidaymakers, royally entertained. It has taken me 71 years to see one, there was a 2 year old standing next to me shouting"hello Wally the Walrus".Awesome.I hope you all have the chance to see it.A once in alifetime opportunity for most,
Thanks - My conventional understanding was that they eat prodigious quantities of clams and, as you say, ingest them underwater. Just wondering if there is the seafloor life available to support her.

It is hard to see the logic of being able to go to Devon for the mockingbird but not to Wales for this.
Blame devolution.

Both devolved leaders, have exploited this opportunity to underscore their status as separate, self determining, nations.

Not really. They’ve done what they thought best for the people living in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Monday the guidelines slacken. I’d booked the day off to head to Exmouth. Not overly unhappy it’s gone as I’ll spend the day in the FOD and Ham Wall instead.

As I’ve said before, I really hope the walrus sticks for those who want to see it. It would really be worth the trip. Traffic shouldn’t be so bad either now that the Easter holidays have finished.

Just to be clear, so that I can't be misrepresented next time there's a Twitter attack on me, I have no issue with devolution or Scottish independence, whatever. I answered the question posed as to the 'logic' of being able to see a bird in England but not a Walrus in Wales, simple as that but no doubt, this makes me a xenophobe.

There is no logic as such, we're currently operating as three, separate nations on mainland UK but anyone who thinks there's been no, political opportunism, is being slightly naive IMHO.
