two new ones - some turnstones from Wales sketched on my last visit, and Captain Excubitor himself with his little yellow companion.

Beautiful work! Looking at this I feel somewhat like when I first started rock climbing (too many decades ago now!) and saw a famous local climber who was in his 70's at the time. My first pitches felt like gravity doubled in force when I started up, but he moved up the wall with such ease, grace and beauty that the normal rules of nature seemed to have been suspended. Inspiring!

yes! only people like us who are out there drawing can really understand the mastery these seemingly easy and dashed off pieces show. Turnstones are marvelous.

Every time you post your sketches, there is a green tinge in my viewing, and always; a how does he do that! feeling...it inspires me, but also I know I could draw the rest of my life and it will not have the perfection of line that you just dash off...I bow to a master, and feel so grateful for your sharing.

Re Mikes comment I too definitely have egret envy!

How nice it is to hear that you feel you produce 'fails' every now and then. Not so nice when you show us the 'fails' and we see that they would have been resounding successes for the rest of us! And don't even get me started on those egret sketches! You get the curves of the neck with every little nuance in one, simple line. And to cap it all off, you put your sketches int perfect compositions that positively throb with life.

AAGGGHHH!!!

Mike

Another set of masterly sketches. I can certainly tell when this guy finds the groove -it seems his pencil just magically finds the perfect line!

Great fieldwork Nick. A note for the second failed Whichat, keep it!

Both paintings are superb, the Turnstones have the edge though, what a painting. Bristling with Turnstoneness.

I'm crying into my beer here.

Not because I missed the "Come Dine With Me" type party which was held in my abscence.
But, because, as always, your soul shines out in everything you do!

Long may you continue to infect us all with these WONDERS!

FABULOUS and, ultimately, INSPIRING!

I return to this party, and NEVER stand alone in the kitchen!

Glad I could come back to your party!

Dick's Pipit is now Nick's Pipit - and I damn well deserved it - early start with a hangover, drive in the dark and drizzle with the SatNav dropping off the windscreen, arriving on site to be reminded why gloves would have been a good idea and getting my feet soaking wet. A lot of views in flight, and then just a few seconds of him sitting up in a bush, wagging his tail violently. Nice.
