...which begs the question - is the weight worth the hassle?

Surely you realize that such rational questions answer themselves; you either enjoy this wonderful dinosaur for what it is, or let it go. I doubt there was any optical improvement when they changed the armor, and the new look seems embarrassed of what it's covering. These are very scarce on this side of the American Ocean.
