Which binoculars is the late Ludwig Koch using please?
I am guessing they were made by Ross.
The fashion has changed to slightly smaller and lighter weight binos since then.

Thanks, I thought it would be a higher magnification.
Yep, from that angle could equally be a Ross Stepsun perhaps borrowed from the collection of Peter Scott :).

Wonder if anyone knows if the extensive video interview with Tony Soper RIP is still available online. Would like to be able to watch again. Found his account there of the abortive filming expedition he went on with Herr Koch quite amusing. Maybe that was the start of the younger man's slightly less than deferential attitude towards his elder :giggle:.

Is it this interview? It mentions the Field glasses lent by Peter Scott, so perhaps they are the ones in the photo.

Well found, thanks (y). Do the videos not work any more or is that me just being inept? It does look extremely likely that is the "opaque" binocular Tony Soper refers to. Wonder if he kept it.

Apparently this is a Peter Scott binocular :

But he did have quite a collection. Another Porro II hanging behind him with Tony Soper in the foreground :

Advice of the sale of some of his collection back in 2021 :
