Any ideas for these 2 moths - cheers in advance and sorry I'm useless 8-P:t:

Edit: I think the first one is a Spectacle - realised when I looked at it head-on.

ID assistance please!

Apologies for being off area, but can anyone offer any advice re identification of the attached? I've scoured my guides and the Internet but haven't much of a clue. Any pointers would be appreciated.

It was seen on 1 June at Cors Caron NNR, Ceredigion (Tregaron Bog) just before midday, but was gone a couple of hours later. It was on a very well weathered fence post.

Thanks in anticipation.

Purple Emperor

Saw male Purple Emperor in Oversley Wood late morning after 2 hrs searching.Only one other sighting reported today but only two other 'butterfliers' on site.Hopefully more Emperors will emerge in the next few days.Lots of Silver Washed Fritillaries(i had the female variation Valesina last year)and White Admirals. O.K. its in Warks but only a couple of miles from Worcs border.

Must have been at least 8 Marsh Tits, quite vocal ones at that.

ID help, please

I found this moth in Worcester today, resting between my car door and the body!

My best match from the ID guides I have is Copper Underwing, and it did show a pinkish colour when it fluttered off, but that would be very early in the year. Any thoughts from the community would be appreciated.

I think you are right and its not too early.

Thanks for that, Des. My references were quoting "from" of late July or August, although things have been a little earlier this year.

BTW any thoughts on my earlier query?

John

Sure this is a Female Ruddy Darter ...hope she gets a mate and I see him.
In my reference guide the pterostigma is brown but it looks black ?

Totally cant get my head around the little Damsels with all the variations and juveniles so what is this one please.Possibly a White legged.

Both in fields by Hopwood Park services.

Correct on both counts. All black legs and a waisted abdomen for the darter and white legs and a black spine for the White-legged.
