Brazilian Merganser, one male in the São Francisco river between Vargem Bonita annd São José do Barreiro, Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil, on December 10, 2013. My third attempt to see this rare duck. Missed shooting a record photo when the duck suddenly moved to the edge of the camera's field of view and dove. Afterwards it was hid behind a big rock in the middle of the river and suddenly took flight, flying upstream very fast right past me.
