Your Most Recent "Life" Bird (11 Viewers)

Hello,

I have yet to publish this sighting in the thread "From my Manhattan Window," but today's life bird is the grasshopper sparrow.

Stay safe,

Forest Bittern - totally unexpected sighting on trip to Papua. Local guide thought he had Great-billed Heron to show but as soon as three of us saw it we said in unison Forest Bittern. I even managed a couple of rubbish record shots (all the wrong camera settings as I was trying for a spotlighted Hawk Owl) before it flew off.

Three in one weekend! A hermit thrush, a swamp sparrow, and a white-crowned sparrow. I'm especially excited about the white-crowned sparrow. They're rare in my area, although not at the specific hotspot I went to. There's a family of them that's been there awhile, but every single time I went there, I missed them...but I finally saw one!
