Well I just got lifer 1,131 even though it appears in position 707 on my life list. A recording I made was misidentified by the guide/friend I sent it to. I noticed it in my Unconfirmed Media on eBird so I sent it to the same guy (without even realizing he was the original source of the mistaken ID) and he said that's a White-fronted Tyrannulet (not a Mistletoe Tyrannulet). Took me a minute to register that was a lifer (so many Tyrannulets!)

My lifers in Uganda have increased to 239 out of 473 species with 200 photographed and another 35 species photographed for the first time.

My last new bird was Cape Wagtail. A few other bits. White-tailed Blue Flycatcher, Grey-winged Robin-chat, Ludher's Bushshrike, Northern Double-collared Sunbird, Purple-breasted Sunbird & Gorilla. 😀

All the best

Had quite an interesting one yesterday. Birding a rural road that goes through some good forest habitat we suddenly spotted a Bare-necked Umbrellabird perched on a Cecropia tree overhanging the road (not a lifer). We obviously stopped to observe such a fantastic species (my second ever sighting) and after we lost it in the forest I joked that now we needed a Sharpbill even if it's no longer in the Cotinga family with the Umbrellabird. One of my friends couldn't remember the vocalization of that species so he pulled out Merlin to check it. One immediately responded from nearby. Only responded once though, heard only lifer at least.

#337: Black Guillemot in Ireland
#338: Great black-backed gull

I'm going through my photos from a big trip around Ireland, so most of my new lifers are birds that are probably absolutely boring for most forum members :p

But it was my first trip to the British Isles since I developed interest in birding (which was about 4 years ago). Especially black guillemots gave me joy. They are so pretty!

Final lifer of my penultimate day of my Ugandan & Rwandan Tour was Montane (Rwenzori) Nightjar with earlier lifers in the day including Kungwe Apalis (two pics), Red-collared Mountain-babbler (two pics) & Fine-banded Woodpecker.

One last day to add to the return. Over 300 lifers now of which I have photographed over 260.

All the best

Paul

After more than 6 long months, I finally nabbed #530, king rail. #400 for Texas!
An errand took me from Austin to Houston today, and it just so happened that a pair of birders turned up a king rail on the NW side of town. I didn't let a flooded grassy field stop me from getting to its reported location, and before long, I flushed the bird no more than a couple meters from my feet. I wasn't able to get back on it as it disappeared into the reeds, but thrilled to add a 3rd rail species in the last 3 years, after only turning up sora my first 5 years of birding.

Fieldfare. Seen in a park in Linkoping Sweden. We took the train up from Copenhagen to visit with family and had some time to waste. We headed to a park and while strolling I saw the fieldfare in under the trees.
