Maghreb Owl. It took me 3 hours in the evening (7-10 PM) before I was totally exhausted and decided to get up at 3 in the morning and try again. Finally, at 6AM, after checking out the main stake-outs for quite some time, I lucked into it by randomly trying along the road up to Oukaimeden.

Thank you for sharing! I find it so cool how you take pictures of almost every bird you see! Yet another reminder to save up for a camera to share what I find.

Magellanic Woodpeckers (three pics)
Nice birds and very jealous - I somehow managed to dip this one in Tierra del Fuego National Park, and can't imagine I will go back soon.

It was even more annoying, as a passenger on our later trip to Antarctica, had some quite nice pics, which she had taken with her mobile!

Good luck with White-bellied Seedsnipe and Chillean Hawk.

On a cruise so no chance of the Seedsnipe. Punta Arenas today where another 7 lifers took me to 119 lifers from 218 trip list so far.

A few pics - Lesser Rhea, Lesser Horned Owl, Patagonian Canastero, Ashy-headed Goose, Two-banded Plover & Magellanic Plover.

All the best

I think Pink-footed was actually my first Shearwater. In Costa Rica we get Wedge-tailed (most common), Pink-footed and Galapagos pretty easily on pelagic trips but I think that was the first one we saw on my first pelagic.

I will be sailing through Costa Rican waters around 30th March to 1st April if things go to plan. Hopefully, a few seabird ticks to come. 😀

Pretty sure I managed my lifer Tiny Hawk today. I had it as a species in mind although unlikely to appear. Was on my way back to the car from a Hawk Watch tower when I saw a dove-sized bird land in a tree about 30 meters ahead of me next to a pond. As I got closer and tried to locate it, a Rufous-tailed Hummingbird came in and mobbed it, which prompted the bird to take off. I got a good look at the tail pattern and size as it flew into the forest. The other possibility for the tail I saw was Double-toothed Kite but given it's double the size and my initial reaction was something the size of a White-tipped Dove I'm thinking it was the Tiny Hawk. Leaving it with a mental asterisk on my list but seems like it was a good fit.

Very cool. My lifer Tiny Hawk was at Braulio Carillo NP.
