Taxonomy

Previously listed with scientific name P. utupuae. Formerly included in Golden Whistler and Vanuatu Whistler in part.

Subspecies

Clements recognizes three subspecies[1]:

  • P. v. ornata: Northern Santa Cruz Islands (Nendo, Reef Islands, and Duff Islands)
  • P. v. utupuae: Central Santa Cruz Islands (Utupua Island)
  • P. v. vanikorensis: Southern Santa Cruz Islands (Vanikoro)
