Male
- White throat
- Medium broad black breast band
- Bright yellow underparts
- Black upperparts with olive mantle
- Broad fringes on wings
Female
- Gray cap
- Brown olive mantle
- Olive rump and tail
- Mottled off-white throat
- Brownish breast band
- Yellow underparts
Juvenile has more rufous head and sometimes yellow on throat
Distribution
Vanikoro (southeastern Temotu, southeastern Solomon Islands).
Taxonomy
Vanikoro Whistler, Nendo Whistler, and Utupua Whistler were formerly considered a single species with the name of Temotu Whistler. This was formerly included in Golden Whistler.
Subspecies
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Forests, including degraded forests on small islands.
Behaviour
Male is often solitary, female often with juvenile. Forages in all forest stories.
