Dendroica delicata
Identification
5in (12.5cm). Bluish-gray upperparts with two white wing bars. Underside including throat yellow (except undertail coverts, which are white); face shows a yellow eye-brow and yellow sub-ocular crescent bordered in black. Bill dark; legs flesh-colored. Females very similar to males, just a little less contrastingly marked.
Distribution
Endemic to St. Lucia in the Lesser Antilles. Common in the right habitat, which is principally mid to high elevation forests.
Taxonomy
A monotypic species. Formerly part of the the Setophaga adelaidae (Adelaide's Warbler) complex. Now considered a separate species as is the formerly associated Setophaga subita (Barbuda Warbler).
Formerly placed in genus Dendroica.
Habitat
Forests at all elevations.
Behaviour
Voice: a loud, variable trill and a medium chick.
