    Nice to see this fella drop into Druridge Pools this afternoon - watched him take a few caterpillars then fly off, however he returned 5 times in a couple of hours.. Plenty of common stuff to watch while the Cuckoo did whatever Cuckoo's do until they come back to the same spot for more...

    Managed to see 2 of the reported 3 Black Redstarts at Newbiggin this morning. Birds were very flighty and were frequently moving from caravan park end to golf course end. Anyway this is the best shot i managed from a distance of approx 30 yards..

    If you have a National Trust Membership you could have an hour or so in the bird hide at Wallington Hall for the Red Squirrels - also a good place for nice walks along the river and possibility of Otter. The alternative is the car park at Woodhorn Mining Museum, slightly south of Cresswell.

    Had a very nice few hours between Cresswell, Druridge, Hauxley & Chevington today despite the high winds - highlights were pair of Avocets and pair of Knot at Cresswell, Redpoll & Otter at Chevington and a nice covey of 4 Grey Partridge approaching Hauxley..
