Great sketches -- and awesome bird. Sigh, if only southern Ontario weren't quite so landlocked!

Congrats, Tim! WELL DESERVED (can never get over the amount of world-class talent that likes to hang about this little forum |:d| )!

That's a relief, then. ;) Guess I misread things. That's what I get for skimming (too much to catch up on around here).

Superb group of sketches here, Tim (I think every last one of them needs to be popped in a frame and hung up somewhere -- these don't deserve to be hidden away in a sketchbook!)

Beauty bird, and gorgeous study, Tim!

Ooh, glad to see you revisit this -- one of my favourite Woottons! Having a second go at the falling rain in this version, or keeping it true to the original?

So THAT'S where 'my' heron went, eh? ;) I'm going to have to fight you boys for it, methinks. BRING IT ON. Crane & gull piece is gorgeous, Tim! Regarding the size of the bird ... there are indeed quite a few subspecies, not sure what stalks the fields in your parts, Ken and Colleen, but we...

Ooh, lovely crane sketches (that nemesis bird of mine ... I spend far too much time chasing the damn things, and don't think I've ever gotten a sketch halfway as decent as these!). And how do you folk across the pond get a yellow-billed before I do?! They simply refuse to cross my path in...

Can't keep up with you at all lately, Tim! So much stunning work here, and the gallery shot has me itching to hop across the pond for look (too bad the private jet's in for repairs this week)! Glad to see it all come together (and equally, to experience the privilege of getting an inside peek...

The murre piece is brilliant -- totally at odds with everything a 'proper' bird portrait should be, while remaining a perfectly accurate description of something observed. Love it.

Agree with Nick -- just too much Awesomeness to be found in razorbills (all alcids, really -- love those bills and body shapes). Too bad they're crazy rare here, though we've had a few reports in the Niagara region in recent years. Never had the opportunity to twitch any of them, though.

Frame them, frame them, frame them! I sincerely wish I could accomplish with the medium what you do so effortlessly. Light, shadow, form -- a few brush strokes, and it's all just there!

Have to echo Woody here, the sunlight on the back of the BHG is phenom. The eider is a fantastic composition -- almost feels a little unsettling the way the landscape looms over her.

Phenom. A tantilizing couple of pages with the 'grins, looking forward to some signature Wootton flight studies!

Gorgeous (is it just me, or does the sea stack resemble an Easter Island moai?). And I have to make special note of the shag, with the strong low light, and no black! Love it.

Beautiful, Tim! I love the expressions on the terns, and I agree, the colour piece is ace. BTW -- did you use watercolour paper for this, or is it just a regular hardbound sketchbook? I just got my copy of Jonsson's latest (trying to keep the drool off the pages!), which has further convinced...

%^$#*& gorgeous!!! I love the shadows on the bird, so much light and form from just a bit of hatching -- you're a master, Tim!

I do envy your seascapes, Tim, water has always been my nemesis. Can't do anything but echo what's already been said -- I feel like I'm there.

Love the field note style, Tim. (What I'd give for nice collection of forumer sketchbook pages to hang up around the place!)
