Duck, Lake Geneva, November 2007 (1 Viewer)

Well, I assumed a tufted duck x greater scaup (cf. the picture on page 59 in Collins), but thought it looked similar to the lesser scaup I saw in the US last September, not to mention the recent photos from France on surfbirds. I wasn't able to photograph the wing pattern at first and only managed yesterday because someone finally decided to drive a motor boat straight through the little flock of tufted ducks it hangs around with. I have nothing else to add to the specific ID features that have already been discussed.

And another one taken on 4/12/2007 in la Baie du Temple, Morges, which is a few miles from where the hybrid was/is.
