Overview
Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary is a 218 km2 reserve in Northeast India established in 1989. It covers the first Himalayan mountain ridge north of the Assam plain and rises up to 3250 m. An old military road runs through the Sanctuary and allows access to all altitudinal ranges.
The sanctuary is famous for the Bugun Liocichla, discovered in 1995 and still only known from two sites, the main one being Eaglenest.
