Greetings to you all! |:d|

I would like to know about your links to web pages that teach you how to make Nest Boxes. I’m specially interested in designs that use clay or other “alternative” materials, but any kind would do, and it can help others in the future.
(I already saw here some suggestions of books but they are not easily available to Portugal |8(| )

Thank you and best regards. |=)|

Hi Garrano !

I just built 12 artificial nests from air-hardening clay to Barn Swallow !
I have a little bit different model than follow link...

So you possibility to use other alternative materials depends on bird species and it's nest. But there is some exceptional case as e.g.
one person built nest box to House Martin here in Finland and House Martin really breeds in the nest box !

Hi Garrano

Here's a link for a House Martin nest made from cement, but I guess you could try the same thing with clay:

http://www.rspb.org.uk/birds/guide/h/housemartin/encouraging_them_to_nest.asp

It's worth searching inside this site when you get there - it also covers various other types of nesting boxes - shelves for Swallows, 'chimney' designs for Owls etc. Just use the internal site search & type in a bird name, followed by 'nest box' & you'll find lots of different designs.

Here's another one for the 'normal' wooden type:
