Sydney Airport (1 Viewer)

I'm staying in a hotel at Sydney International Airport which I do fairly regularly. On the eastern side of the airport between the motorway and the airport is a small lake which has good walking paths around one side of it and nice trees etc. It always amazes me how many birds there are alongside such a noisy environment. I've seen about 60 species here. Today were Hardhead, Pacific Black ducks and Chestnut Teal, Australian Black Swans and cignets. Breeding Australasian Grebes, Little Black and Little Pied Cormorants and a Darter and an Australian Pelican. Coots, Dusky Moorhens, Purple Swamphens and a Buff-banded Rail, Common Koel, Black-shouldered Kite, Rainbow Lorikeets, Pied Currawong and more. So if you come to Sydney Airport and you think there is nothing to do. Go for a walk on the eastern side. It's amazing what you can see. I've seen eagles, egrets and spoonbills, honeyeaters, cockatoos and Galahs. And there is a Channel-billed Cuckoo hiding here somewhere. I only get fleeting glimpses drawn to my attention by the other birds that constantly mob him or her.

Regards to you all

Chris
