Belted Kingfisher (female)
I have made many attempts to capture a Belted Kingfisher image without much success until this cooperative female showed up. Abet it is not sitting on a natural support, but then again most Kingfishers we see are perched on a wire.
Habitat
Salt Marsh bordered by pines
Location
Amelia Island,Florida,USA
Date taken
November 17, 2009
Scientific name
Ceryle alcyon
Equipment used
Nikon D-300, Nikon 600 MM f/4.0 with a 1.4 teleconverter
Great shot. I also live in Florida and have been trying to get a decent photo of this bird since we moved here 5 years ago. A couple of terrible ones. It's hard to get them to sit still.
