Blue Dasher, Female
Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis: Libellulidae) female. 2.8-4.5 cm (1.1-1.8 in long). This “handstand pose” is called an obelisk pose or posture according to Odonatologist. They get in this pose to help regulate their body temperature, especially to cool off.
Habitat
Sewage ponds adjacent to the Colorado River next to the river is a riparian hackberry/elm woods and elsewhere the ponds are surrounded by open fields at 134 m (440 ft) elevation.

Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory, Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA.
