Eastern Tiger Swallowtail at Glenrouge Campground (Papilio glaucus)

This photo was taken at Glenrouge Campground in Toronto, Ontario, in August 2011.
Glenrouge Campground is a wonderful place, with many trails leading from it and the Rouge River beeside it.
We loved our years (6 in total) camping there and met lots of really nice people, flora and fauna etc.
* I am pretty sure this is an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, and not a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail.
Habitat
The eastern tiger swallowtail is found in North America east of the Rocky Mountains from Ontario south to the Gulf coast and northern Mexico. It flies from the spring through the fall. The eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly is found in New Hampshire.

Fabulous Swallowtail ... and so well captured ... a stunner, F&H ... tfs ...

Love it! Reminds me of one of those classic song text misunderstandings. The original song text is from a Danish poem - I sten stiger solen op (In the East the sun rises). The classic misapprehension is I stens tiger, solen op! (Thee Tiger of the East, raise the sun!). Methinks this butterfly might just be capable of raising the sun :D
