Fledglings still!
This little one was waiting about 10 ft above the suet feeder for mom to fill up and come feed it.

I don't remember seeing fledglings this late in the season and it's not just the Red-bellieds. Northern Cardinals as well. Been a very strange breeding season but excellent for these guys and the No. Cards.

Young birds tend to be shy around other bird; defensive, cautious. I know what your saying, and it has been a phenominon out West here. I, and my brother, have noticed a late breeding season of the Harry and Acorn woodpecker. We report this information and some of the "experts" concure; it is a bit late. Very good image, like the lighting and the neutral tones; goot comp. :t: :t: :t:
